Clinical Psychologists are senior mental health practitioners. Clinical Psychologists who have trained in the UK have to complete a psychology degree (or conversion) accredited by the British Psychological Society, in addition to a 3-year Doctorate in Clinical Psychology - this is the highest level and standard of academic qualification. Typically, clinical psychologists have also undertaken at least 8 years of training and work experience before qualifying.
Clinical Psychologists are also taught a variety of different therapies and how to integrate these different approaches to suit the client.
Clinical Psychologists aim to reduce psychological distress and enhance and promote psychological and physical well-being. They are highly skilled in carrying out psychological assessment, delivering psychological therapy, and also providing consultation, training and supervision to others.
Choosing a psychologist is a personal choice and one that makes a difference to the overall outcome of your treatment. Research tells us that the relationship developed between you and your psychologist has an important influence on the outcome of achieving your goals.
I would always recommend that you research the psychologist you are considering, making sure they are adequately qualified to treat the difficulties you are seeking help for. Better yet, ask for a 15-minute consultation where you can ask them questions relevant to their ways of practicing. This is something that I am able to provide before you decide if you would like to continue with therapy.
Ultimately, therapy is something that is better felt and experienced than talked about. This is why I offer a trial therapy, where you and I will jointly assess what would be the right approach for you and if we feel we are a good fit. I can assess your response to interventions and at the end suggest the recommended number of sessions needed. You will also be assessing whether I am a good fit for you. Many people describe seeing changes immediately from the trial therapy. I will always be honest if I do not think I am the most suitable person to treat you, and in these rare cases will provide a recommended therapist who can help.
Most therapy sessions last for 50 minutes and are priced at £90. Trial Therapy/Assessment sessions are longer approx. 2hrs and are charged at £150. Longer sessions/ Block Therapy can be arranged if we think this is something that would help you.
For fees relating to the setting up and facilitation of Reflective practice groups for organisations please contact me via email or telephone.
I charge an hourly rate for reports or other written work.
I ask for payment at the time of booking for Trial Sessions/Assessment appointments.
For subsequent appointments see details below:
In person/Face to Face Appointments - Payments by cash are made at the end of the session. Payment via online banking is also accepted 24 hours prior to the session.
Online Appointments: Payment via online banking is to be made 24 hours prior to the session.
I accept payment though a variety of medical insurers please get in touch for more information
The number of sessions will depend on what it is you would like to focus on within your sessions. You can have as many, or as few, as you think you need. This may be something that we explore in your assessment appointment.
Most people find that in order to get the most out of their therapy, they choose to meet frequently such as weekly or fortnightly. This is also something for us to explore at your initial session.
I require that you give a minimum of 48 hours’ notice if you wish to re-arrange or cancel your appointment. I will then be able to do this for you without incurring any charges . If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment time or miss your appointment you will need to pay in full for the session as the time had been allocated to you.
Confidentiality and trust are integral to my work: they are a central part of creating a safe space for us to work together. As a registered professional Clinical Psychologist, I am bound by a strict code of confidentiality. To enhance the practice and give you the best possible treatment, I sometimes discuss my clinical work with a professionally registered supervisor who is also bound by confidentiality. In accordance with my professional guidelines, if I am concerned about your own safety, or the safety of someone else, I may need to contact external services. Where appropriate I would always seek to discuss this with you in the first instance.
You can read more about how your information is stored in the 'Privacy Policy' section on this website.
